Doctor of Physical Therapy is not a new profession, some sort of physical therapy practice even existed in Europe from 1500 to 1700s.Physical Therapy profession is also not part of alternative medicine but it is part of modern medical system which is developed by the father of western medicine Hippocrates. In developed world Physical therapy education is advanced up to doctorate level. With growth in number of medical institutions comes a greater responsibility of producing high quality, skilled and dynamic physical therapists that would compete at international levels. This modern era of information high ways and digital age calls for today's physical therapists to be well versed not just in science of physical medicine and rehabilitation but also to exhibit a well rounded personality with a sound focus on communication skills, research and development.
Learning how to learn and seek council,when needed are two important factors which help determine success for a student. In many instances attaining the medical degree may be an end goal while in my opinion it is just a stepping stone towards serving mankind and leaping beyond one's own capabilities.

Physical Therapy is a branch of rehabilitative medicine aimed at helping patients maintain, recover or improve their physical abilities. Physical Therapists work with patients whose movements may be impaired due to aging, disease, environmental factors, or sporting hazards, a physical therapist seeks to identify and maximize quality of life and movement potential through prevention, intervention (treatment), promotion, habilitation and rehabilitation.

Physical Therapy is a clinical health sciences.

Physical therapy is not alternative therapy. It is a clinical health science. Physical therapists study medical science subjects, including anatomy, neurosciences and physiology in order to acquire the health education needed for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, etc., of patients with physical problems. The physical therapist works in hospital, GP (general practice, primary care medicine) practices, and the community.
